About Us
Young Music Makers is a Saturday music centre for the whole family that believes in inclusive, access to music education for all. Established in 1967, we have been at the heart of music education in North London for 50 years, offering music lessons and groups for students from aged four… to 94!
Based in Kentish Town, we offer a wonderful Early Years programme, where children aged four and up can be creative with music, whilst developing core musicianship skills.
We are very lucky to have some of the best professional musicians in London as part of the YMM family, providing instrumental tuition on piano, violin, viola, cello, recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drum kit, percussion, ukulele, classical, rock-pop and jazz guitar, bass, voice, trumpet and trombone.
With 40 different ensembles, including 8 adult groups, whatever your age or ability: we have a group for you!
There is a strong focus on performance, with weekly cafe concerts from 10.45-11.00, a concert at the end of each term showcasing all ensembles and many specialist chamber concerts dotted throughout the year.
YMM loves getting involved with local events. For example, our Big Bands and Rock n Pop bands regularly host ‘Picnic in the Park’ at the Parliament Hill Bandstand, while our choirs, rhythm groups and String Ensemble entertained the crowds at Parliament Hill Farmers’ Market and YMM Drumlines, brass and wind students lead a parade to open the 2019 York Rise street festival.
We regularly fundraise to support students who need financial support. Find out how your donation could help us.
